Animal ID: Penelope AnnPenelope Ann (female)

Maltese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Penelope Ann is a 1 year old beautiful White and Cream Maltese/Terrier Mix who weighs 11 pounds. This darling little girl is in our rescue because she ended up in the shelter as a stray and was discovered to be pregnant when the shelter's foster mom took her to the vet for a routine exam. Since Penelope Ann could no longer be on the shelter's adoption list rescue was called. Six weeks after Penelope Ann entered our rescue she had 3 little girl puppies. Penelope Ann has raised her family and now she is ready for her own new loving forever home. Penelope Ann is a very sweet happy little girl who is a little shy at first. She loves to be ... (Read More)with her person and to play with other small dogs so another small dog in the home will work well with Penelope Ann. She has learned to use the dog door in her foster home that goes out into a secure decking area to play and potty. Of course, training will be required in her new home. Just because she is doing well in her foster home doesn't mean she will know what to do in her new own. Penelope Ann will do well with a retired person or couple who have lots of time to spoil this darling little girl. We like our rescue dogs and puppies to be placed into homes where someone is home during the day and consideration will be given to those homes first. All of PJ's Small Dog Rescue puppies and dogs are indoor dogs with outside potty and play privileges. Please click on our name PJ's Small Dog Rescue at he bottom of Penelope Ann's page for further information about our rescue, policies and fees. PLEASE NOTE we are NOT a SHELTER, we are a RESCUE so we don't have a facility for you to come and visit our rescue dogs and puppies as all the dogs in our care are in foster homes. After your adoption questionnaire is approved, you will be invited to come and meet the rescue dog or puppy you are interested in for possible adoption. If you are interested in Penelope Ann you must EMAIL us for required adoption questionnaire and one will be emailed back to you (email link for our rescue is at the bottom of Penelope Ann's page). If you are a renter, please have a letter ready at time of adoption from your landlord giving you permission to have a dog. If you already have a dog then it must state you can have more than one dog. Also, it is our policy to not place our small rescue dogs and puppies into homes with large breed dogs but this is on a case by case basis. All of our adoptions are in person so if you are unable to come to Isleton, California for an adoption we will not be able to assist you in adopting one of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your interest in adopting one of PJ's Small Dog Rescue dogs or puppies. (Less)

Havanese    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bee Gee is a 1 year old beautiful Silver Tri Havanese who weighs 11 1/2 pounds. This darling little boy is in our rescue because he ended up in the shelter as a stray and his owner never came to claim him so rescue was called. We are not sure if he is a purebred but he sure has all the features of a Havanese. This poor little guy was so neglected and so heavily matted that we immediately took him to our groomer to be shaved all the way down because the mats were so tight and pulling his skin. Bee Gee was also full of ticks and he was so good during all of the discomfort of the grooming, tick removal and bathing. What a brave little boy ... Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Wild Bill is a 4 month old beautiful smooth coat Tri-Color Chihuahua puppy who weighs 6 pounds. Not sure if he is a mix but he sure is a cutie. Wild Bill and his sister Calamity Jane are in our rescue because they were born 2 days earlier in a shelter that didn't have walls, only a roof and in March the weather was extreme cold. Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are two lucky puppies as their other extremely tiny litter mates died one by one. Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are playful and happy puppies but they are a little shy when they meet new people. They love to play with other tiny puppies their size and with each other. These two puppies ... (Read More)will not be placed in a home with children as they are too tiny. Also, whoever adopts either of these puppies must be home during the day. Dachshund    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Camo is a 2 year old beautiful red camouflage color Dachshund who weighs 9 1/2 pounds. This darling little boy was taken for a vet by a good Samaritan to be put down because either another dog or a car accident tore the right side of Camo's face off. You can just look at his camouflage markings to know where his name came from and the kind vet was the one who named him and she decided to try to save this darling little boy's life. Camo was in the hospital 2 weeks and before he was transported to our rescue for his recovery the kind vet was able to stitch up 80% of his face. Three weeks later Camo's face was fully healed and happily the ... (Read More)stitches have been removed and he is now ready for his new loving forever home. By his picture you can see that Camo has one beautiful blue eye and a spot of blue in the other eye. After Camo started to heal and was feeling like doing more than laying around he was invited by a nursing mama to becoming step-daddy to her 3 puppies when they were 4 week old. So when his foster mama was in the nursery area Camo was allowed to visit the puppies who loved to play with and then cuddle up to him for their naps. Now Camo is in with other small ldogs his size and is enjoying playing with them. He has learned how to use the doggy door that goes out into a large secure decking area to play and potty but further potty training in a new home will be needed.
